Therapy for men who are done with the script

Maybe you’re the one who holds everything together, and it’s starting to cost you. Maybe you’re figuring out what being a man means for you as a cis or trans straight, gay, bi man, or a man whose life doesn’t fit the usual template. Either way, you don’t have to have it figured out before you start therapy.

Therapy here is a place to slow down, say the thing you haven’t said out loud, and work out what you want.

All men are welcome here, including cis, trans, straight, gay, bi and queer men, and men who have sex with men however you label it, or don’t. I’m a queer, non-binary therapist with an affirming, anti-oppressive, sex-positive approach. I won’t ask you to over explain or justify your identity, your transition, your sexuality or your relationships to get started.

You might be here if…

  • You’re exhausted, irritable or numb, but “I’m fine” is still your default

  • Work stress or burnout is spilling into the rest of your life

  • Your relationships, open, monogamous or polyamorous, feel strained, distant or stuck in the same fights

  • You feel lonely, even when you’re surrounded by people or have a full dating-app inbox

  • You’re carrying shame, secrecy or mixed feelings about your sexuality, your body or your desires

  • You’re coming out, or navigating family, religion or culture around who you are

  • You’re using alcohol or other substances more than you’d like, including around sex or socializing

Right off that bat we gently explore who you are and what your life currently looks like. Together we can start noticing what is working and what you’d like to re-explore.

Common Questions

Do I need to be gay, queer or trans to work with you?

1

No. This page is for all men, and you don’t need to share any particular identity.

Do I have to identify as gay or bi?

2

No. Some men who have sex with men don’t use those words, and that’s fine. You decide how, or whether, to label yourself.

Do you work with trans men?

Yes. I offer affirming therapy, where we can explore topics like social transitioning, how you experience your ‘transness’, dysphoria and more.

3

Can we talk about sex?

4

Yes, if and when you want to. I take a non-judgmental, sex-positive approach. I’m a therapist, not a medical provider, so I can’t provide testing, prescriptions or medical advice. I can help you find resources on sexual health testing, safer sex practices or medical or community support.

Do you work with men in non-monogamous or multi-partner relationships?

5

Yes. I support all relationship dynamics.
